How to find the best rate over 5%
Rates above 5% are not always available at every term. The table above shows every current product meeting that threshold — check the term column carefully, as a 5%+ rate at 3 months is very different from the same rate locked away for 2 years.
Challenger banks and credit unions often offer the highest rates, while the Big 4 tend to pay less. If you're comfortable with a lesser-known bank (all are APRA-regulated and covered by the government deposit guarantee up to $250,000), the rate difference can be meaningful.
